In the summer of 2014, a very funny and smart woman named Gaby Dunn arrived at comedian H. Alan Scott's birthday party with a gift. This gift was a new friend; someone who was JUST as obsessed with The Golden Girls as he was. Her name was Kerri Doherty, and within the first two minutes of meeting each other, she and H. Alan managed to get so deep into a conversation about Dorothy's Chronic Fatigue Syndrome that the other party guests became faceless shapes that merely faded into the background. The two new friends spent the next few hours excitedly expressing their undying love for The GG. They laughed, they cried, they questioned Estelle Getty's choice to get a facelift after the first season, despite the fact that her character was supposed to be 80 years old. It was during that night that a new friendship was began, and the Out on the Lanai podcast was born.
